To start in the field of internet marketing involves a learning curve, which is related to both the practical skills to gradually build your business as well as some theoretical information.
Internet marketing and fields that relate to it, as affiliate marketing are not activities that require very deep knowledge of marketing or computing because there are tools to develop intuitively.
There are several options to learn how to identify a niche, tools for keyword searches, tools to build a website, to position it in the search engines, to track your online activity, to analyze the performance of your site, etc.
And of course you will find a lot of online courses that will help you go step by step. However, there is a point at which rarely people pay attention, and that is the reason why often many entrepreneurs fall by the wayside. I refer to the terminology used in internet marketing.
Such terminology is part of that learning curve I was talking about at first because you will face concepts and definitions to which it is likely that you had not previously faced if your activity was different from this. Words like digital marketing, PPC, SEO, traffic and many other terms that at first seem more obvious, sometimes represent authentic Gordian knots that many Internet users fail to beat.
It does not have to be a very sophisticated task to solve because there are a number of glossaries in the network with terminology related to internet marketing. Right here on this site we will build a glossary that will be available for you to use it when necessary.
Remember, if you doubt something, before continuing resolves the doubt. It is quite possible that if you do not do so, will drag a mistake that can cost you money in the long run and even the success of your business.
One of the best things about affiliate marketing is that you’re right it doesn’t require deep knowledge of marketing and computing. Your glossary is pretty amazing. Terminology such as above the fold, CPM, niche and unique clicks, to name a few, are really helpful to know when we talk about what it takes to be a successful affiliate marketer. Resolving doubt is great advice, and it’s better to do something right and take an extra second than to do something wrong that could stall progress in the long run.
Many times we take for granted the meaning of various terms when, in reality, they mean something else entirely different. That is a big mistake because the complete definition of a subject can be misunderstood to the detriment of our business. And as you say, it only takes a few moments to look for the description of a word and a phrase, no matter if it is something technical or colloquial. That is also part of the education we need to acquire to build a trustworthy business.
Very good point!
For someone who has been in affiliate marketing for a long time, a lot of the jargon may seem like second nature. But for beginners, the various acronyms and lingo could be very confusing and daunting. I think it’s really important to know your audience, because of this. If you’re speaking to a beginner audience, you need to be very clear about definitions and what each term means.
I wish that all educators understood this, but unfortunately many don’t seem to realize how difficult their communication is to understand.
