Goals Performance Evaluation

At first when we are learning about affiliate marketing or internet marketing, all the information available out there seems overwhelming and frightening. Thats why sometimes people get paralyzed and after a very enthusiastic beginning they do nothing more with time. The sole idea to build a site is a mental barrier to many individuals and thinking on the writing process to gradually generate content on a daily or at least a weekly basis seems as the end of the hopes and dreams on creating an internet business.

As any other human activity, success doesn’t come overnight and you have to grow up grudually any business from scratch until it gets a consistent life online. How do you do that? There are many things to take into consideration, surely as long as you have information about the issue you want to promote online, more easily should be to show and communicate effectively your ideas, however the most important thing to take into consideration it is that you have to be consistent as I mentioned in other post and one of the best ways to keep the consistency is to set up goals.

If you have goals you can do a small task every day reaching a small objetive too. That would be no a wonderful achievement but if you do day by day, at the end of the week you are going to have 7 small tasks done which can represent a medium or even a great goal achieved that week. In doing so you not only being consistent – which is for sure one thing google loves – but also you are getting the sense of movement and getting progress.

When you are overwhelmed with a lot of information and devote time in just reading or writing or bulding, etc but you don’t set up goals chances are you are stuck in a place where is completely possible you can get frustrated very soon.

So, write down some goals. They don’t need to be complex nor extremely ambitious. Just few goals for the week achievables, measurables. Do it and compare the experience versus not having them.

  1. Great advice Tommy,
I started Affiliate Marketing thinking that I can make income and succeed overnight or latest by the week itself. I was wrong.

Building an Online Business takes time and we need to be really (And I mean REALLY) consistent with out goal to ensure that our website grows smoothly. It took me a few months to know that, I wished I had known this sooner before having my expectations wrong. Loving your article, keep writing. Cheers

    1. Thanks a lot! It’s hard to keep working every day when you don’t see results at all; that’s the secret and straightness of the discipline in writing, researching, posting long before you get money

  2. I agree that setting goals and monitoring their performance is important for success. Internet marketing can seem complex on the surface, but actually there are some very simple ways of doing it that can lead to regular income.

You are right. Take small steps every day and over time this will equal something big. That’s what I try to tell myself every day.

  3. Hey Tommy,

Good advice. I have an online business reviewing TV products and to be consistent, like you say, it’s imperative to maintain goals.

For example, I have a daily routine. I check my Google Analytics each morning, then go through any messages. If I have a bad writing day (writer’s block) I won’t pressurize myself. I’ll try and do something else productive and come back to it later.

Have you tried any of these websites that generate writing ideas?

    1. I haven’t Craig, but I use to write down in a small notebook any idea that comes suddenly to me and somehow is related to my content, that way I keep a good reserve of topics to write about. Thanks for your comment!

  4. I’m glad you are telling people the importance of goal setting. One small drawback about the internet is the overload of information. Not to mention trying to listen to people who are giving wild information that’s not really organized themselves. This leaves the person to organize themselves and this is where a lot of people fall because most people really don’t have the acumen to come up with a financial plan or a business plan for themselves. So I’m glad you are at least bringing this part to their attention. Good read

  5. Affiliate marketing can be a great business if you have the right program and are willing to work at it every day. There are a lot of considerations you need to think about and have goals in mind. One very important point is information overload. It can really take you over. Make a plan and know what you need to do. Try not to read too much fluff at a time.

    1. I fully agree, there must be a balance between acquiring information, processing it and offering it as content on the blog. Otherwise there is the risk of saturation of information without being productive.

  6. Hi Tommy,

Some months ago, when I was looking for a way to get started online, I wanted to avoid writing.

I spend at least two months searching around on the internet without doing nothing until I saw there were not any better alternatives.

I can see why these guys are not taking action and your advice to them is really important.

Writing down some goals will help them to make the first step and start their own online business.

    1. Yes Ilias, positively beside content, the action is also king. I can tell you that I know of many people including me who are obsessive about writing a perfect piece of literature for your blog. However, it means at long term that you productivity gets very poor. On the contrary some wise guys, they write what they think is vital to communicate immediately regardless the perfection and their sites become successful ones in the short term. That’s why if some secrets are in this business for me no doubt are this two: 1) good content and 2) action

    That’s very true.

I remember when I started out about 2 years ago, I thought I would never ever get it right. It was so overwhelming, and most often frustrating, but my goals had me glued to my future visions.

I had to learn the hard way that success was not just going to happen very soon, especially when dealing with a very competitive niche.

That’s why it’s very important to start a business that is strictly related to your passions. It should be something you have no barriers or difficulty talking about. You couldn’t be more right about the fact that anyone would be able to communicate effectively if they have information with respect to what they want to talk about. It makes the task much easier.

Yet another piece of treasure for prospecting, new and old internet marketers. Thanks a lot for sharing.

    1. I could not agree more with you. When one is in a dilemma between a niche about which there is a lot of information and potential and another that is perhaps less promising but which we are passionate about, it is advisable to choose the second. The reason is that it will give us an internal motivation powerful enough to have the patience to continue working on it, even if the results do not arrive fast enough.

  8. Great insight. I think are always fear of the unknown when try out the new venture. We just love to be in our comfort zone but in order for us to progress in life we have to overcome our fear. I really wish that the success can come overnight but it doesn’t. I think it is better this way that you put time and effort toward your goal, once you achieve it, it will have meanings and you will feel proud of yourself. I always write down my goals and I also make sure that I can see it as well as a self reminder. I also write what I have to do the next day at the end of the night so that I can achieve my goal. 🙂

    1. I think you refer to something very relevant. We indeed have to set medium and long-term goals and fight for them even if we don’t see results quickly. But at the same time, we can have a strategy that allows us to conquer small triumphs daily, which would enable us to maintain motivation until the next primary goal.
